Trips To Australia / USA

Sydney Opera House In 2002, 30 youngsters from across the UK travelled Down Under raising over £60,000 for the charity. In 2003, 58 youngsters made the journey followed by a team of 82 in 2004 and 107 in 2005. Therafter teams of approximately 130 have traveled to Australia every summer with the same number due to travel in 2009.

The youngsters travel to Australia, via London Heathrow, led by experienced team leaders. The groups depart once A Level exams have finished and dates throughout the summer break. They travel to entry points in Australia where they have the opportunity to recover from their jetlag and see some local sites. In the past, the Melbourne team have visited the Puffing Billy Steam Train and the Brisbane groups have made unforgettable trips to Steve Irwin’s Crocodile Zoo.In New South Wales teams have visited vineyards and animal wildlife centers.

A group shot The groups stay in YHA Australia accommodation for the majority of their stay.

Then the groups depart for their conservation work.CVA is Australia’s largest conservation organisation and during their project, the youngsters can expect to experience tree planting, working at animal reserves and tending to the protection and learning about aboriginal cultural/environmental issues.

There is no such thing as an average day on a CVA project but the youngsters can expect to work on a project from 8am and at night there is a chance to cook dinner and unwind.

Planting trees After a week of hard work, its on to Sydney for some further conservation work and some sightseeing. There is a trip to the Blue Mountains, a visit to the Sydney Jewish Musuem and a climb to the top of the famous Sydney Harbour Bridge. Its all finished off with a party at the Hard Rock café where everyone can celebrate their hard work.
