Trips To Australia
2002 Summer Trip
Such
was the demand for the Oz Experience, a second trip for 2002 was organised-
19 youngsters from schools in South Wales made the trip in summer 2002
and what an experience. Thanks to the Easter team, we had learnt lots
of lessons…and this was a trip to remember.
It started enroute in Bangkok when the group bumped into Matt from Neighbours. And who will forget the Puffing Billy trip -Pat disappearing down between the platform!
The hospital visit was a day to remember. So much joy brought to so many families- and we all know it left a lasting impression on all the team.
For the conservation project, we ventured to a new location. We left
Melbourne and travelled to Sovereign Hill for a quick visit and the
onto the Grampian Mountains.Home for a week was Aginda, Halls Gap- or
Stalag 19 as it became known- it was no Hilton!
After settling in, the group began their work and planted an amazing 1000 trees; lugged sleepers down a mountain to create a new pathway; ate in the best restaurants; prepared a communal garden for the Governor of the State of Victoria and interacted with lots of wild life.
And for some all the work proved too much!
Then it was off to Sydney, where we were greeted with great weather and the visit to Bondi beach was a hot favourite. The Bridge Climb was fabulous and it was all back to Hard Rock to celebrate the work.
The Summer 2002 team….you are with us always!
